Neither Frank & Brian Houston nor Carl Lentz had anything to do with Hillsong music. Those are the primary culprits in Hillsong’s morality scandals. Wonderful songwriters like Darlene Zschech and Reuben Morgan are responsible for many of those incredible songs that are part of the Hillsong book. These songwriters have given churches around the world amazing praise & worship songs that bear none of the aspects of blasphemous messages they’re talking about in this extremely unfair video. Worship leaders choosing these songs are choosing them for the right reasons. This “guilt by association” thing being used here could be used in such a manner as to leave our worship services with no music at all. These guys need to be careful.

This video is so assumptive and judgmental. Augustine addresses this in confessions too by the way and came to a different conclusion so who is right? Different strokes for different folks, as long as it’s Biblical. Christianity is the most culturally diverse religion in the world. Our services don’t all look the same. “Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! The problem with the modern music is the ego. Many of the worship singers are in it for their own glory, and it comes across as annoying and manipulative.

In addition, so many of these groups teach that one is saved by "praying Jesus into his/her heart" or simply "accepting the Lord"--these aren't taught in the Bible.

That is A COMPLETELY FALSE ASSUMPTION that we "who have deconstructed never had a constructed faith to begin with". How arrogant to say such a thing. Religious deconstruction is a difficult, gut-wrenching process that we do not take lightly. The reason Christians say this is fear; fear that they could lose *their* faith. It is easier to project their discomfort onto us by saying we were never Christians to begin with.

I love music, however I'm not a fan of the hude majority of "Contemporary Christian" music. Honestly, in my opinion, it's boring almost entirely! However, If some people enjoy it and it brings them in, I hope that somehow they fall in Love with Jesus. Also, if I told you what kind of music I enjoy many of you would want to kick me out of Church. I do agree with much of what you're saying though!

Yep, it's *ALL* easy, worldly, fun, cool SUBSTITUTION for REAL relationship with Christ, and a REAL sanctified life in Him. Folks DON'T have that, think they do, and feel they must need something more. They don't.

I grew up in the Methodist church and didn't see this type of thinking in my small local church (fortunately). MANY, many years ago, I moved to the Baptist denomination because I started noticing all the non-biblical decisions the UMC was making. And it's only gotten worse and worse over time.

It’s weird, well I am weird. I am not a music person, okay without it. Glad when I don’t have to sing, so yeah it’s a good point about the music. When you are young you think oh there is something wrong with me, cause I’m not feeling it. There is nothing wrong with me, faith is a daily walk, choice and there are moments where there is the feels. But mostly it’s going forward , doing life his way!

Typical reform bro's, what an absolute misconception by Ray Comfort to assume all Next Gen Pastors think of God that way. You can have a silly game for like 5-10 mins of an hour-hour and half service time and still preach the Word, still have meaningful Bible study. Both can be done, but its typical for the reform bros who like to look down upon everyone because they're pre-destined to do so.

When I first began to explore the church, the first one I went to played 45-an hour of music. The sermons were short with speaking in tongues interjected frequently. By the end of the service I had a headache. I later found a church with expository teaching and limited music. I learned so much at that church. I have since relocated but have been unable to find a church in which I am comfortable with the teachings.

The worst thing with the Evangelical Church is the worship of Donald J Trump. Comparing him to Jesus Christ. Shame...😢😢😢

There is nothing wrong with the music. The problem is the message. Messages should impart the fear of the Lord. That its not "once saved always saved". do what you want your in the club. That is not true and causes an unscriptual greasy grace and loose living.

As a Roman Catholic I can agree that there must be understanding of Christ’s teachings: it is an orthodox faith where young people are instructed in Catechism and live a Christian lifestyle from early on within the context of family tradition.

I am 100% certain my church would be exploding like it is because of God and our center on good biblical teaching. Praise and worship are not the center and take up less time than the preaching.

People are so self-centered and demanding that ‘their’ needs are met it doesn’t surprise me that divorce is so high, in fact I am amazed that it isn’t higher when I listen to how couples talk to one another! The pathetic whining of one side that you often hear when observing couples in supermarkets embarrasses me. Once the first flush of romance has cooled and couples need to just get on with real life that is when the shock sets in. Also women tend to want keep up with their friends and often spend more money than they really have on home improvements etc, as if ‘that’ is going to make for a satisfied life. They often tie their husbands down to a boring domestic life when they often led an active outdoor life before getting hitched. Indeed their masculine energy was probably one of the things that attracted their spouses during courtship! Now it is a round of visiting old relatives and going shopping for more ‘things’ to decorate the home. Beware who you marry! Men too expect too much, they come from work and put their feet up and expect a cordon bleu meal served to them, expect the house to be kept immaculate, all their washing and ironing neatly done, and after all this when their spouse has done a full days work themselves too, to be an energetic lover later! In my estimation, any man that cannot wash, iron, and clean the house is not fit to be called a man at all. Where this idea that this was all ‘women’s work’ is beyond me. It might have been the case when men had been out roping and branding cattle all day, but those days are over for most I think! If couples don’t work together and share in everything then it is a recipe for disaster. Washing and ironing is a spiritual endeavour, when it is done to ease the burden off your spouse.

Ephesians 5:19-21 ? I agree with you that it has gotten out of hand with emotionalism yet I think there is a balance. We do need emotion, passion and music in our fellowship just in a genuine way. If the results of that are a body of followers of Christ that love one another and lay down their lives for one another then it bears fruit! If it is nothing more than an emotional orgy then it is useless! In the same way if you preach with no emotion or love then it is useless also!

How about balance? Perhaps that should be tried. What if we pray and fast for revival? Then come together, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, leading people in worship, preparing their minds to receive the Word through preaching. BALANCE! Friel is correct that some of these revivals are worked up emotionalism. However, just because there are some who are out of balance, that doesn't mean we should go off-kilter in the opposite direction. Oft times, it can be genuine worship through music that will draw in the unsaved in to hear the gospel, leading true repentance and salvation. One example? That old slave ship captain, John Newton, who, on e saved, later wrote the song Amazing Grace and had an impact on future British abolitionists like William Wilberforce.

I used to love 'altar call' until I visited a church where the person praying with me wanted me to pray in 'tongues'. And then they tried to HEAL me right there in front of the church, and got angry at me for not getting healed.

Maybe it’s just me and I’ve changed, when I first got saved 10 years ago, I used to love Christian worship. It was so new and fresh to me at the time. I started to purge secular music out of my life. I used to rush to church to get front row seating to listen to the amazing performances. But as time went on and I grew in my faith, I discovered that I was attending a “mega church” that definitely preached a prosperity gospel and never really touched much on sin. The pastor is filthy rich and so to do the other pastors of the many other churches they form around my city and other parishes around it. (I say parishes because I’m from Louisiana). Now my wife and I attend the church she grew up in, it’s a significantly smaller church, prolly around 200-300 members broken up amongst two service times. It preaches a solid Bible based sermon every Sunday. Our pastor doesn’t just cherry pick random verses out of the Bible like so many churches we have gone to. Instead we go through books of the Bible. Anyway, to my main point. I’ve found that I’ve grown away from the excitement of worship before the sermon. I find myself rushing to hear from the sermon more than the worship. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t really enjoy many of the songs our worship team picks, many of which are recycled so many times, or if something is wrong with my faith and relationship with the Lord. I listen to worship all the time outside of church, and genuinely love it. I drive over an hour multiple times a week to college, and I’ll worship during the whole ride, but something about Sunday morning worship I just can’t get into anymore. It’s a very awkward stage for me right now in my walk with the Lord.

I would rather see the kids today having an emotional musical experience in a peaceful worship service than some of the protests and craziness going on in the mess of the world we live in today. So maybe music only isn't enough, but maybe on down the line they'll think back on it, and think of it as a positive time in their life and want to seek a church or perhaps buy a bible and come to know the Lord and His Word. I'm trying to look for the positives here. But who am I?🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️😂 Much LOVE to you all.❤🙏🏻

This is the video I needed two years ago when I didn't want a divorce, but he wouldn't have it any other way. I blame myself for not seeking God out sooner to save the marriage. Since then, I've repented of that divorce, whether it was Biblical or not, and if God wills me into the life of another, it will be by His will alone. Not mine. I've also accepted the fact I may be single for the rest of my life, if that is God's will for me. I'm done living how I want to, and letting the Gospel teach me how I should live instead. I am definitely happier trusting His plans for me~
